Say hello to Bastian Tinney, this month’s Spotlight Employee!
Bastian (more commonly known as Baz) never imagined that a “stepping stone” job would turn into a long-term career. Starting as a Workshop Assistant, Baz has progressed through multiple roles at Coxons and is now a Service Coordinator at our Rockhampton Branch!
Before joining Coxons, Baz worked in the coffee industry for nearly a decade. He developed a deep love for the craft (and admits he’s now a bit of a coffee snob). When the opportunity came up to join Coxons, he saw it as a short-term move into a different industry. What he found instead was a supportive team, a culture of growth, and a business where his potential could thrive.
“One of the big things that inspired me to grow with the company is the growth of the company itself. There were opportunities coming up left, right and centre.”
Over the years, Baz’s willingness to step up and try new roles has seen him move from hands-on work in the workshop to critical roles in the office. Each time the business expanded, new opportunities followed, and each time Bastian was ready to take them on.
He credits the team culture and the company’s ability to maintain a “small business vibe” as the reason he’s stayed and thrived. “It’s still very close-knit, friendly. A real family business feel that hasn’t changed, even as we’ve gotten bigger.”
Today, Bastian plays an important role in keeping the wheels turning smoothly behind the scenes. His experience on the floor and in leadership roles gives him a deep understanding of both people and processes, making him a perfect fit for the Service Coordinator role he holds now.
Whether it’s in the workshop or the office, Bastian has brought a grounded, can-do attitude to everything he does. He’s a great example of what can happen when the right people meet the right culture, and we’re so proud to have him on the team.
