Employee Spotlight Video – Emmanuel Chilunda

This month, we caught up with one of our Boilermakers, Emmanuel Chilunda, at our Rockhampton workshop.

From a young age, Emmanuel was drawn to creating and understanding how things are built. Fascinated by metalwork and welding, he found himself asking, “What do these guys do, and how do they do it?”, a curiosity that ultimately led him into a career in the trade.

Before joining Coxons Group Australia, Emmanuel began his career working on heavy mining equipment in Zambia, developing a strong foundation across large-scale machinery. Transitioning into radiator and cooling component work in Australia brought new challenges and opportunities, which he quickly embraced.

Walking into the Rockhampton workshop for the first time was a moment that stuck with him. The environment, the team and the opportunity ahead made an immediate impression.

What stands out most to Emmanuel is the culture and leadership within the business. The approachable nature of leaders, the openness to ideas, and the genuine support from the team reflect the values that underpin the Coxons way of working.

“You get to talk to leaders on a personal level… they guide you, they lead you and give you the chance to share your views.”

For Emmanuel, it’s more than just a workplace, it’s a team that looks out for one another, encourages growth and creates opportunities to keep learning. As he puts it, “We care for each other here. We are family… and you get to learn new styles and things you never knew before.”

His journey is a great example of how passion, curiosity and a willingness to learn can lead to a rewarding career supported by a team that lives its values every day.
