This month, we are proud to feature Chris Arnold, Painter Blaster at our Mackay branch.
Chris discovered his passion for painting and blasting straight out of high school after an opportunity to work with aircraft didn’t eventuate. Drawing on his artistic talent and natural eye for detail, his background in art and model painting made it an obvious choice – and he hasn’t looked back since.
Growing up on the northern beaches of Sydney, Chris has always been drawn to the water, describing himself as a “compulsive water person.” In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, paddle boarding, and building his own canoe. Spending time offshore allows him to switch off, focus on the moment, and return safely. This kind of downtime keeps him grounded and supports his mental wellbeing, reflecting the themes we highlighted this month during Mental Health Week.
At work, Chris values a calm and safe environment where he can focus on doing the best job possible as efficiently as he can. In his video, he shares that he starts each day by “checking on my teammates to see if they’re functional and to see if everything’s going okay with them.” Recently, Chris has also taken one of our workshop assistants under his wing, enjoying the chance to share his knowledge and experience.
